Obama in Kenya to support relative’s sports center

NAIROBI, Kenya — Former U.S. President Barack Obama arrived in Kenya Sunday, the country of his father’s birth, his first visit to this East African country since leaving office. Obama is in Kenya to help launch the sports and training center founded by his half-sister, Auma Obama, through her foundation Sauti Kuu.

Man suspected of wounding 3 officers shot and killed

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Police shot and killed a man Sunday suspected of shooting and wounding three Kansas City police officers, authoritie­s said. The suspect died Sunday afternoon after barricadin­g himself in a house in the southeast part of the city. He emerged from the home and was killed in an exchange of gunfire, police Chief Rick Smith told reporters. All three officers are expected to live.

Rapper gives away free tickets to sci-fi flick

PORTLAND, Maine — A Maine rapper surprised moviegoers with free tickets to a sci-fi satire movie. Rory Ferreira, who goes by the stage name Milo, bought all 129 seats to the 4:20 p.m. showing of the movie “Sorry to Bother You” at the Nickelodeo­n in Portland, Maine, on Saturday. Employees told patrons they could see a movie for free as they arrived at the theater.
