78, of Chicago, passed away on August 10, 2018, in Chicago.

Ricardo Ruelo was born in Bicol, Philippine­s to Silvestre and Eugenia Ruelo on March 25, 1940. He married Carolina Potoza Ruelo on April 13, 1969 in Nasugbu, Batangas. He worked as a Staff Artist for 19 years.

Ricardo is survived by his wife, Carolina Ruelo; daughter, Katherine and son-in-law, Benjamin DeCastro, grandchild­ren, Kendrick, Bradley, Khristian and Brayden DeCastro; daughter, Rachel Ruelo and son-in-law, Elmer Dela Cruz; daughter, Kristine and son-in-law, Hoover Abejero, grandchild­ren, Patrick and Olivia Abejero; son, Rommel Ruelo and daughter-in-law, Natalie Ruelo, grandchild­ren, Richard and Ava Ruelo. Siblings and their families: Roberto Ruelo, Rodrigo Ruelo, Rolando Ruelo, Ruben Ruelo, Roderick Ruelo, Melba Herrera, Nene Ruelo and Judy Palencia. Ricardo was a good father to four children, best grandfathe­r to eight grandchild­ren and a loving husband to his wife. He loved to paint, took excellent pictures and portraits, an artist of a kind, and an avid basketball fan. Funeral services will be held at MontclairL­ucania Funeral Home on Monday, August 13 and Tuesday, August 14, from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Irving Park Cemetery on Wednesday, August 15 after the 9:30 mass at Montclair-Lucania Funeral Home.

The family of Ricardo Ruelo wishes to thank all relatives, friends, Peterson Nursing Home and Unity Hospice of Chicagolan­d for all the support and being a part of Ricardo’s life.
