WR Lee suffers knee injury
Jaguars receiver Marqise Lee, who led the team in receptions in 2017, injured his left knee in a 17-6 victory against the visiting Falcons on Saturday, and could be out for the year.
Lee was carted off the field in the first quarter after being hit directly on the knee by Falcons cornerback Damontae Kazee, who was flagged for tackling with his helmet.
Lee had 56 catches for 702 yards and three touchdowns last season. He signed a four-year, $34 million contract in March that included $16.5 million guaranteed.
Linebacker Reuben Foster suffered a concussion in the 49ers’ 23-17 victory against the host Colts.
The NFL cleared Browns receiver Josh Gordon to resume all on-field activities, including games, after being limited to attending meetings, working out and watching practice since returning from a three-week absence.
GOLF Strong round for DeChambeau
Bryson DeChambeau made nine birdies en route to an 8-under 63, giving him a fourstroke lead over Keegan Bradley after three rounds of The Northern Trust in Paramus, New Jersey.
Tiger Woods had his first bogey-free round of the year but managed only three birdies for a 68. He was 13 shots behind.
“That’s not going to get it done,” Woods said. “As soft as it is, these guys are making a boatload of birdies. And I just haven’t made any.”
MISCELLANEOUS Serena OK with catsuit ban
Serena Williams has taken no issue with the French Open’s plans to ban her black catsuit. She said she no longer needs the fulllength outfit for health reasons and won’t be wearing it again at the U.S. Open.
“I think that obviously the Grand Slams have a right to do what they want to do,” she said. “I feel like if and when, or if they know that some things are for health reasons, then there’s no way that they wouldn’t be OK with it. So I think it’s fine.”
Los Angeles police say NBA free agent Nick Young was arrested for delaying an investigation during a late-night stop in Hollywood for a routine traffic violation. Young allegedly didn’t obey officers, became upset and caused a delay.
Catholic Boy pulled away from Mendelssohn to win the $1.25 million Travers Stakes at Saratoga Race Course in Saratoga Springs, New York. With Javier Castellano up, Catholic Boy covered the 1¼ miles in 2:01.94 and paid $16.20, $8.20 and $5.80.
