73, of Estero, FL and a former resident of Lemont, IL died Thursday, September 6, 2018. He was born May 29, 1945 in Chicago, IL a devoted son of the late Rocco and Ida (Ricciuti) Delia. He had been a resident of Estero since 2004.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served during the Vietnam War. In 1971, John joined the Hickory Hills Police Department where he proudly served his community until he retired as a Lieutenant from the force in 1997. In retirement, he spent 4 years working for the Palos School District as a resource officer.

He is survived by his loving wife, Diane Delia; his two cherished grandchild­ren, Alyssa and Devin Delia all of Estero, FL. He was the dearest brotherin-law of Carol and Edward Krupski of Chicago and is also survived by many cousins and dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved son, Christophe­r Delia.

The family will receive friends Sunday, September 9, 2018 from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Shikany’s Bonita Funeral Home 28300 So. Tamiami Tr., Bonita Springs, FL 34134. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Light Catholic Community in Ft. Myers, FL.
