Bengals win behind 4 TDs from Dalton

Andy Dalton threw four touchdown passes — three of them to A.J. Green — in the first half, and the Bengals twice opened 21-point leads before halftime en route to a 34-23 victory Thursday against the visiting Ravens. The Bengals (2-0) beat the Colts by the same score in their season opener Sunday.

Dalton and Green connected on touchdown passes of four and 32 yards in the first quarter and another of seven yards in the second to stake the Bengals to a 21-0 lead. After the Ravens (1-1) got on the board on a one-yard touchdown run by Javorius Allen, Dalton threw a 14-yard touchdown pass to Tyler Boyd to restore the 21-point lead.

Joe Flacco passed for 376 yards and two touchdowns for the Ravens, but he also threw two intercepti­ons, lost a fumble and was sacked four times.

♦Steelers quarterbac­k Ben Roethlisbe­rger missed practice for a second consecutiv­e day because of an issue with his right elbow.

Roethlisbe­rger suffered the injury on the Steelers’ next-to-last offensive snap in a Week 1 tie against the Browns. He didn’t practice Wednesday, and second-year quarterbac­k Josh Dobbs took all the snaps with the starters Thursday.

Offensive coordinato­r Randy Fichtner declined to get into specifics about Roethlisbe­rger’s status for the game Sunday against the Chiefs.

♦ The Titans limited quarterbac­k Marcus Mariota (elbow) at practice and gave more work to backup Blaine Gabbert, with coach Mike Vrabel saying they want to evaluate who will give them the best chance to win Sunday against the Texans.

♦ Jaguars running back Leonard Fournette said he is feeling ‘‘better and better’’ about the strained right hamstring he suffered in Week 1 against the Giants and hopes he will be able to play Sunday against the Patriots.

♦ Falcons running back Devonta Freeman was held out of practice again because of a knee injury suffered in Week 1 against the Eagles, leaving his status for the team’s game Sunday against the Panthers uncertain.

♦Multiple outlets reported the Seahawks are expected to sign linebacker Mychal Kendricks to a oneyear contract despite his guilty plea last week to charges of insider trading.

♦Chargers defensive end Joey Bosa will miss the team’s game Sunday against the Bills because of a bone bruise in his left foot.

NHL Sharks deal for D Karlsson

The Sharks acquired two-time Norris Trophy-winning defenseman Erik Karlsson from the Senators for a first-round draft pick in 2019 or 2020, a second-round pick in 2019, forwards Chris Tierney, Josh Norris and Rudolfs Balcers, defenseman Dylan DeMelo and two conditiona­l draft picks. The Sharks also received forward Francis Perron.

♦ The Stars signed center Tyler Seguin to an eight-year, $78.8 million contract extension that runs through the 2026-27 season.

NBA Celtics guard on indefinite leave

Celtics guard Jabari Bird said he’s taking an indefinite break from the team after he was charged with choking and kicking his girlfriend and preventing her from leaving his apartment in Boston.
