-

David Blough threw for 328 yards and accounted for two touchdowns, D.J. Knox scored twice on short runs and Purdue topped host Nebraska 42-28 on Saturday in Lincoln to send the Cornhuskers to their programrecord eighth consecutive loss since last season.

Nebraska (0-4, 0-2 Big Ten), which lost despite amassing 582 yards of offense and 30 first downs, has the second-longest losing streak — to UTEP’s 17-gamer — in the Football Bowl Subdivision. The Cornhuskers’ last victory came Oct. 28, 2017, against the Boilermakers (2-3, 1-1) in West Lafayette, Indiana.

After Markell Jones gave Purdue a 42-21 lead with a six-yard touchdown run, Devine Ozigbo — who rushed for a career-high 170 yards — scored on a 23-yard run to pull Nebraska to 42-28 with 13:04 left.

But quarterback Adrian Martinez was intercepted on the Cornhuskers’ next possession before they turned the ball over on downs on their last three. Martinez, a true freshman, threw for 323 yards and ran for 91 more.

Indiana 24, Rutgers 17

Peyton Ramsey ran for a touchdown and threw for another, and the Hoosiers (3-1, 1-1) scored on their first four possessions en route to sending the Scarlet Knights (1-4, 0-2) to their fourth consecutive loss in Piscataway, New Jersey.

Ramsey scored the tiebreaking touchdown on a one-yard run and added a two-yard touchdown pass to J-Shun Harris II in Indiana’s 17-point second quarter. Scottie Stevens scored on a 16-yard run on the Hoosiers’ first possession, and Logan Justice kicked a 44-yard field goal on their last possession of the half as they built a 24-7 lead.

Rutgers threatened in the fourth quarter, cutting its deficit to a 24-17 on a one-yard touchdown run by Jonathan Hilliman and a 52-yard field goal by Justin Davidovicz. But Ramsey, who was 27-for-40 for 288 yards, completed a 25-yard pass to Peyton Hendershot from the Hoosiers’ 34 to ice the game in the closing minutes.

Michigan State 31, Central Michigan 20

Quarterback Brian Lewerke ran for touchdowns of three and five yards in the first half, and the No. 21 Spartans (3-1) overcame a slow start and an underwhelming finish to beat the Chippewas (1-4) in East Lansing, Michigan.

Michigan State entered the game with the No. 1 run defense in the country and held Central Michigan to five yards on the ground in the first half. The Spartans led 31-3 before the Chippewas rallied in the fourth quarter.
