2 dead, 2 hurt in Loop car shooting
Two people were killed and two others were wounded early Monday when shooting erupted inside a vehicle traveling downtown on Michigan Avenue, police said.
Five men were inside the car just after midnight as it traveled south in the 500 block of South Michigan, according to Chicago police spokesman Al Stinites.
“Something happened inside the vehicle — we’re not sure what yet — causing shots to be fired inside the vehicle,” Stinites said.
The driver was shot in his shoulder and lost control of the car, which then crashed into a pole and flipped on its roof.
Four people were taken to hospitals with gunshot wounds, and two of them were pronounced dead shortly after, Stinites said. A fifth person was also taken to a hospital to be “checked out.”
Bruce Y. Miller, 29, of the Jeffrey Manor neighborhood, suffered a fatal gunshot wound to the head, according to Chicago police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
Steve Nixon, 30, of the Chatham neighborhood, died after being shot in the face, authorities said.
Police were unsure who in the car fired the shots and said the victims were giving conflicting accounts of the incident.

2 killed, 6 injured in 4-car crash in Englewood
Two people were killed and six others, including three children, were injured Monday night in a four-vehicle crash in the South Side Englewood neighborhood, authorities said.
At 7:07 p.m., officers saw a sedan traveling east on 69th Street at a high rate of speed, according to Chicago police. After initially turning on emergency lights and following the erratic driver, the officers disengaged and halted their pursuit.
The eastbound sedan then failed to stop at a light at the intersection of 69th Street and Loomis Boulevard and crashed into another vehicle, police said. The impact caused the vehicle to collide with two other vehicles that were also stopped at the intersection.
At least six people were taken to hospitals. Police reported two adults were later pronounced dead. Police also reported that two children were critically injured and another child’s condition was stabilized after the crash. The driver who caused the crash ran away, police said. A weapon was found in the sedan.
