Rams 23, Broncos 20 Steelers tame Bengals again

-

Ben Roethlisberger (32-for46, 369 yards) found Antonio Brown for a 31-yard touchdown pass with 10 seconds left to lift the Steelers to a 28-21 victory against the Bengals on Sunday in Cincinnati, Ohio.

“We’ve been in that situation a lot, and I knew we were going to do it,” said Brown, who had five catches for 105 yards. Teammate Juju Smith-Schuster had seven catches for 111 yards.

James Conner ran for 111 yards and a pair of one-yard touchdowns on the eve of Le’Veon Bell’s possible return from a holdout to help the Steelers (3-2-1), who have won eight consecutive games against the Bengals.

Conner has seven rushing touchdowns in six games, joining Franco Harris (1976) and Jerome Bettis (2004) as the only Steelers with that accomplishment.

“James was a bowling ball today,” Roethlisberger said.

Joe Mixon’s four-yard touchdown run gave the Bengals a 2120 lead with 1:18 left.

The Bengals are 2-16 against the Steelers at Paul Brown Stadium during coach Marvin Lewis’ 16 seasons, including a pair of playoff losses, and 8-25 overall.

“We are not going to secondguess anything,” Lewis said. “They made the play, and we didn’t.”

Todd Gurley rushed for a career-high 208 yards and two touchdowns on 28 carries as the visiting Rams stayed undefeated. His previous high was 159 yards at Green Bay in 2015.

Rams receiver Cooper Kupp was carted off the field after wrenching his left knee on a horse-collar tackle in the second quarter, but he made a surprising return in the second half.

It was 25 degrees at kickoff, marking the second coldest game in Denver before November.

Texans 20, Bills 13

Johnathan Joseph’s 28-yard interception return for a touchdown with 1:23 remaining lifted the host Texans to their third consecutive victory.

Bills quarterback Nathan Peterman threw for 61 yards with a touchdown and two interceptions after taking over for rookie Josh Allen, who left with an elbow injury late in the third quarter. Allen threw for 84 yards and ran for 20. Allen’s status for next week is uncertain.

Jets 42, Colts 34

Jason Myers kicked a franchise-record seven field goals, Sam Darnold threw two touchdown passes, and Morris Claiborne had a pick-six for the host Jets. Myers broke the record held by Jim Turner (1968) and Bobby Howfield (1972).

Jets receiver Quincy Enunwa suffered a serious injury to his right ankle in the second quarter.

Colts quarterback Andrew Luck was 23 of 43 for 301 yards with touchdowns to Marcus Johnson, Eric Ebron, Erik Swoope and Chester Rogers.

Seahawks 27, Raiders 3

Russell Wilson threw touchdown passes to Jaron Brown, David Moore and Tyler Lockett to lift the Seahawks in front of a record crowd of 84,922 at Wembley Stadium in London.

Raiders receiver Amari Cooper left the game in the second quarter after taking an unpenalied helmet-to-helmet hit from safety Bradley McDougald.

Raiders quarterback Derek Carr injured his left arm.

Ravens 21, Titans 0

The visiting Ravens totaled a franchise-record 11 sacks, while the Titans were shut out for the first time since Nov. 28, 2010 and for the first time at home since moving into Nissan Stadium in 1999. The Ravens outgained the Titans 361-106 and punted once.
