Jaguars get more RB help by acquiring Hyde
The Jaguars traded for Browns running back Carlos Hyde, adding a proven starter while Leonard Fournette progresses slowly from a strained right hamstring.
The Browns (2-3-1) will get a 2019 fifthround draft pick from the Jaguars in exchange for Hyde, who has rushed for 382 yards and five touchdowns in his first season in Cleveland. Hyde signed a three-year, $15.25 million contract in March.
The Jaguars (3-3) were willing to take on the financial commitment because leading rusher T.J. Yeldon will become a free agent at the end of this season. So will third-stringer Corey Grant, who was placed on injured reserve last week because of a foot injury. The Jaguars signed veteran Jamaal Charles to a one-year contract to replace Grant. Fournette will miss his fifth game.
Lynch (groin) out at least a month
Raiders running back Marshawn Lynch will miss at least a month because of a groin injury. Lynch was hurt last week during a 27-3 loss to the Seahawks in London.
The 32-year-old Lynch has been one of the few bright spots for the Raiders this season. He ranks 12th in the league with 376 yards rushing, averaging 4.2 yards per carry with three touchdowns.
Lynch ranks fourth in the NFL in rushing since Week 12 last season.
Cardinals replace OC McCoy with Leftwich
The Cardinals fired offensive coordinator Mike McCoy a day after the team was blown out at home by the Broncos. He will be replaced by quarterbacks coach Byron Leftwich.
McCoy also was let go after 10 games as the Broncos coordinator last season.
Browns DE Garrett rips officials
Browns defensive end Myles Garrett unloaded on officials on Friday, criticizing them for several calls that have gone against the team in recent weeks and swung momentum in their games.
“Do your job just like we need to do our job,” Garrett said. “If it’s holding, call holding. If it’s a false start, false start, whether it’s us or them.”
Garrett spoke while unafraid of any consequences from the league, which is sensitive about players criticizing its officiating crews.
Injury update
Dolphins defensive end Cameron Wake is on a course to return against the Lions from a knee injury that sidelined him the past two weeks. Wake is listed as questionable but was a full participant in practice.
Lions running back Theo Riddick, who has 23 catches this season, was ruled out with a knee injury.
♦ The Redskins receiving corps will be undermanned against the Cowboys. Slot receiver Jamison Crowder (ankle) is out, and starting wideout Paul Richardson (knee) is listed as doubtful.
♦ Cardinals rookie quarterback Josh Rosen has a sprained left toe but is expected to make his next start.
