Caravan growing but 1,140 miles from U.S.
TAPACHULA, Mexico — Thousands of Central American migrants resumed an arduous trek toward the U.S. border Monday, with many bristling at suggestions there could be terrorists among them and saying the caravan is being used for political ends by President Donald Trump. The U.N. estimated the caravan at 7,200 people. However, they were still at least 1,140 miles from the nearest border crossing — McAllen, Texas.

Possible explosive found near Soros home
BEDFORD, N.Y. — The FBI and local police responded to an address near the home of philanthropist George Soros after an object that appeared to be an explosive was found in a mailbox, according to authorities. Bedford police responded to the address in Katonah at 3:45 p.m. Monday after an employee of the residence opened the package. The person put the package in a wooded area and called police. Soros has donated heavily to liberal causes and is vilified on the right.
Willa approaches Mexican coast
MEXICO CITY — An “extremely dangerous” Hurricane Willa with winds of 145 mph headed toward a Tuesday afternoon landfall along a stretch of Mexico’s Pacific coast.
Trump approval rating at new high
President Donald Trump’s approval rating has reached a new high, to 47 percent, a new poll from NBC News and The Wall Street Journal found. The poll found that 49 percent disapprove. He had 39 percent approval six months ago.
