Watson, Texans win again

-

Deshaun Watson matched his career high with five touchdown passes to lead the Texans to their fifth consecutive victory with a 4223 win over the Dolphins on Thursday in Houston.

The Texans (5-3), who started 0-3, have their longest single-season winning streak since reeling off six victories in a row in 2012.

Watson threw touchdown passes of 13, 2, 73, 49 and 2 yards to give him 34 career scoring passes to move ahead of Dan Marino (32) for second-most in NFL history after 15 games.

Dolphins quarterback Brock Osweiler, who had one tough season in Houston after signing a $72 million contract in 2016, threw for 241 yards with an interception in his third straight start in place of injured starter Ryan Tannehill.

Official who missed key call fired

The NFL fired down judge Hugo Cruz, who is in his fourth season in the league, for inadequate performance. It is the first time the NFL has fired an official in-season during the Super Bowl era because of performance.

Cruz, who last worked in Week 6 and is no longer an NFL employee, joined the NFL in 2015. He was responsible for one high-profile mistake this season when he missed an obvious false start by Chargers left tackle Russell Okung on a scoring play in Week 6 against the Cleveland Browns. He did not work in Week 7.

Jaguars to be without 3 CBs

The Jaguars will be without three of their top four cornerbacks — including second-team All-Pro A.J. Bouye — against the Eagles. Bouye (calf) and Tyler Patmon (neck) didn’t make the trip to London with the team. D.J. Hayden did make the trip but is unlikely to play because he hasn’t practiced since Sept. 21 because of a toe injury.
