Senate resolution: Saudi prince ‘complicit’

WASHINGTON — A bipartisan group of senators is introducin­g a measure that says Saudi Arabia’s crown prince is “complicit” in the killing of journalist Jamal Khashoggi. The resolution is largely symbolic. Introduced by Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham and by Democratic Sen. Dianne Feinstein, the resolution says the Senate “has a high level of confidence” that the crown prince “was complicit in the murder.”

Carbon dioxide emissions climb

WASHINGTON — After several years of little growth, global emissions of heattrappi­ng carbon dioxide experience­d their largest jump in seven years, discouragi­ng scientists. World carbon dioxide emissions are estimated to have risen 2.7 percent from 2017 to 2018, according to three studies released Wednesday from the Global Carbon Project. “This is terrible news,” said Andrew Jones, co-director of Climate Interactiv­e, which models greenhouse gas emissions and temperatur­es but was not part of the research.

Princeton singers drop song

PRINCETON, N.J. — An all-male a cappella group at Princeton University has pulled a Disney song from its act following a student newspaper column that suggested the lyrics helped promote “toxic masculinit­y.” The Princeton Tigertones have performed “Kiss the Girl,” a song from “The Little Mermaid,” for years. During performanc­es, a female audience member would be brought onstage to decide whether a man from the crowd could kiss her. Writer Noa Wollstein claimed the song’s message is misogynist­ic.

Man, 85, dies hanging lights at sorority

BLOOMINGTO­N, Ind. — Police say an 85-year-old Bloomingto­n man, Billy Joe Marvin Wiley, died after he fell from a ladder while hanging Christmas lights at Pi Beta Phi sorority house on Indiana University’s campus.
