DePaul stays hot at home
Max Strus scored 27 points to lead DePaul in a 104-70 rout of Chicago State on Wednesday to remain undefeated at Wintrust Arena.
The Blue Demons improved to 6-0 at home and 17-0 all-time against Chicago State (3-9).
Strus was 8-for-11 and made five three-pointers. Eli Cain added 17 points and 11 assists for DePaul (6-2). The starters combined for 24-of-44 shooting (55 percent) from the floor.
Delshon Strickland scored 25 points and Travon Bell had 14 for Chicago State.
The Blue Demons had a double-digit lead midway through the first half and built a 49-30 advantage at the break. Cain’s back-to-back three-pointers stretched the lead to 77-47 with 9:40 remaining.
Michigan dismissed running back O’Maury Samuels on the same day he was arraigned on two charges, including one for domestic violence.
Syracuse signed football coach Dino Babers to a long-term contract extension.
Morton agrees to two-year deal with Rays
Right-hander Charlie Morton reportedly agreed to a two-year, $30 million contract with the Rays. The 35-year-old Morton was a first-time All-Star last season when he went 15-3 with a 3.13 ERA for the Astros.
Right-hander Lance Lynn agreed to a threeyear, $30 million contract with the Rangers. Lynn, who was an All-Star in 2012 with the Cardinals, went 10-10 with a 4.77 ERA last season in 29 starts and four relief appearances between the Twins and Yankees.
Shortstop Jordy Mercer agreed to a one-year, $5.25 million contract with the Tigers.
The Yankees are nearing a three-year contract with left-hander J.A. Happ.
The Nationals traded starting pitcher Tanner Roark to the Reds for right-hander Tanner Rainey.
Irving leads Celtics to seventh win in row
