Gladstein, Mark O., M.D.
Of Louisville, Kentucky, died on December 30, 2018 after a brief illness at age 78. A native Louisvillian, he graduated from Atherton High School. He attended the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, and thereafter earned his medical degree from the University of Louisville. He subsequently performed his residency at the New York Orthopaedic Hospital, Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center in New York City.
Following his education, Dr. Gladstein proudly served his country as a Captain and physician in the United States Air Force.
Dr. Gladstein entered private practice in Louisville where he served the community as an orthopedic surgeon for nearly 40 years. He loved all aspects of practicing medicine, especially caring for his patients. His study of medicine was a lifelong passion so his patients received the best possible care. He belonged to both the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery, for which he served as a board examiner for 15 years.
In his spare time he was an avid golfer and cherished spending time with his family.
Dr. Gladstein was a proud member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society, the Temple, Standard Country Club, and the Frank E. Stinchfield Society.
Mark is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Rolla Herman Gladstein; his daughter, Pamela Sole (Marc) of New York, NY; his son, Seth (Heather) Gladstein of Prospect; and four adored grandchildren, Annabelle and Lucy Sole, and Levi and Judah Gladstein.
Dr. Gladstein’s family would like to extend our appreciation to Dr. Jane Cornett and the entire staff at Louisville Episcopal Church Home who cared for Mark during his final days.
The funeral will be held at Herman Meyer &
Son, Inc., on Wednesday, January 2, 2019, at 2:00 p.m. with visitation beginning at 1:00 p.m.
