Bengals’ Green expected to miss multiple games

-

Bengals star receiver A.J. Green is expected to miss multiple regular-season games after undergoing ankle surgery Tuesday, coach Zac Taylor said.

Green was carted off the field during the team’s first practice of training camp Saturday. Taylor didn’t provide an exact timetable for Green’s return.

It’s the second consecutive season that Green has suffered a significant injury. He missed half of last season with an injured right toe that required surgery.

Green has been one of the top receivers in the NFL since being drafted in 2011. According to ESPN Stats & Information, he’s ranked sixth or higher in receptions (602), receiving yards (8,907) and touchdowns (63).

Luck to miss preseason opener

Colts quarterback Andrew Luck didn’t participate in practice and will miss at least two more workouts because of a strained left calf. He also has been ruled out of the team’s preseason opener at Buffalo.

Luck was already on a limited workout schedule at training camp. But the 29-yearold said instead of progressing, he feels like he’s taking a step backward.

For the second consecutive year, Falcons star receiver Julio Jones will sit out the entire preseason, a decision not necessarily tied to Jones awaiting a new contract from the club.

Jones, who has been working his way back from a foot injury in training camp, has two years remaining on his five-year, $71.5 million contract.
