Police: 5-year-old shot in leg, 2 people stabbed in Englewood

A physical altercatio­n between four people Friday led to a 5-year-old boy being shot and two people being stabbed in Englewood on the South Side.

About 7:18 p.m., a woman, 33, got into a physical altercatio­n with a 28-year-old woman in the hallway of a residence in the 6700 block of South Parnell Avenue and was stabbed in the left arm, Chicago police said.

Following the altercatio­n, a 34-year-old man was leaving the residence with the woman who was stabbed when a 29-year-old man followed them out the door and stabbed the older man in the right arm, police said.

The 29-year-old man then went to the second floor of the residence, got a gun and fired shots outside a window toward a vehicle driven by the two people who were stabbed, police said. The shooter missed them but struck the boy who was in the vehicle in the left thigh.

He was taken to a hospital where his condition was stabilized, police said.

The conditions of the stabbing victims were also stabilized, police said.

The 28-year-old woman and 29-year-old man were taken into custody, police said.

Cop accidental­ly shoots own finger while cleaning gun at South Side station

A Chicago police officer accidental­ly shot himself in the finger Friday at a South Side station.

The officer was cleaning his gun when it inadverten­tly discharged and struck his pinky finger, Chicago police said.

He was taken to a hospital in good condition, and was treated and released, police said.

The incident happened about 11:10 a.m. in the Gresham District station in the 7800 block of South Halsted, police said.

Man charged with hiding video camera in Glenview dialysis center restroom

A nurse is accused of hiding a video camera inside a restroom of his workplace and secretly recording a coworker in north suburban Glenview.

Michael Klusmeyer, 62, was an employee of DaVita Dialysis, 2601 Compass Rd., on July 23 when he placed a key fob with a hidden camera inside it in the women’s restroom, according to Cook County state’s attorney’s office spokeswoma­n Tandra Simonton.

The victim, a female employee of the center, noticed the camera and reported it to police, Simonton said.

14-year-old shot in face in Englewood

A 14-year-old boy was critically wounded Friday in a shooting in Englewood on the South Side.

About 3:50 p.m., the boy was inside a residence in the 6800 block of South Normal Avenue when he was shot in the face, Chicago police said.

He was rushed to Comer Children’s Hospital in critical condition, police said. A person of interest has been taken in for questionin­g.
