Mayfield: No offense intended

-

Despite claiming he was taken out of context in an interview conducted four months ago, Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield said Wednesday he reached out to Giants quarterback Daniel Jones after making some biting comments about him when he was drafted.

GQ published an article Tuesday on Mayfield in which he said he was shocked the Giants drafted Jones with the sixth overall pick out of Duke in April and questioned why they would take a player without a proven track record of winning.

Mayfield acknowledged he told GQ he was stunned by the choice of Jones — ‘‘blows my mind’’ — but he said that he didn’t mean any disrespect toward Jones and that other comments in the article were pieced together.

Mayfield said he texted Jones to make sure he understood he meant no harm.

In a post on Instagram, Copeland said he used a supplement he thought adhered to NFL rules and hinted he would appeal the suspension.
