Man fatally shot in Austin Driver crashes after shots fired on Ryan

One person was injured in a crash after a vehicle was hit by gunfire Sunday on the Dan Ryan Expressway on the South Side.

The vehicle was shot about 5:30 a.m. in the southbound local lanes of I-94 near 31st Street, according to Illinois State Police. It was involved in a crash a short time later.

The male driver, 38, was taken to Mercy Hospital with injuries that were not lifethreat­ening, state police said. He was the only person in the vehicle, and he wasn’t wounded by the gunfire.

All local southbound lanes at 31st Street were shut down at 6:26 a.m. for an investigat­ion and were reopened about 9:35 a.m., state police said.

The incident remains under investigat­ion, according to state police. Sun-Times Wire

Woman grazed, man shot exiting CTA bus in Park Manor

A woman was grazed and a man seriously wounded Sunday in a drive-by in Park Manor on the South Side.

About 4 p.m., the man, 23, was getting off of a CTA bus in the 200 block of East 69th Street when a gray SUV pulled up to him and someone inside opened fire, Chicago police said. He was struck multiple times in the right side of his torso.

The man was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center in serious condition, police said. A 61-year-old woman, standing nearby, was grazed on the right side of her body and taken to the same hospital in good condition. Jermaine Nolen A 24-year-old man was shot and killed Sunday in Austin on the West Side.

About 3:35 p.m., he was standing outside of a business in the 5900 block of West Division Street when a dark-colored SUV pulled up to him and someone inside fired shots, Chicago police said. He was struck in the neck and shoulder and pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
