Iran spinning more centrifuges
TEHRAN, Iran — Iran on Monday broke further away from its collapsing 2015 nuclear deal with world powers by doubling the number of advanced centrifuges it operates, linking the decision to U.S. President Donald Trump’s withdrawal from the agreement over a year ago.

BEIRUT — Turkey captured Rasmiya Awad, the 65-year-old sister of Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, the slain leader of the Islamic State group, in northwestern Syria on Monday, according to a senior Turkish official, who called the arrest an intelligence “gold mine.”
CVS employee refused Puerto Rican license
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — CVS apologized and said it was investigating after José Guzmán Payano, a Purdue University engineering student, was denied the purchase of over-the-counter cold medicine by employees who refused to accept his Puerto Rican driver’s license and U.S. passport as valid identification and questioned his immigration status. Puerto Rico is a U.S. territory, and Puerto Ricans are U.S. citizens.
Krispy Kreme lets young driver keep delivering
ST. PAUL, Minn. — Krispy Kreme has reached an agreement with a college student who drove to Iowa every weekend to buy hundreds of doughnuts to resell them in the Twin Cities area. The company said in a statement Monday that Jayson Gonzalez of Champlin can now work with Krispy Kreme as an independent operator. The deal also includes a 500-dozen doughnut donation. The 21-year-old Gonzalez said on his Facebook page that he’s “pumped” to continue his business.
Handful of Nationals skip White House visit
WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump mostly stuck to sports Monday while honoring the World Series champion Washington Nationals at the White House. Trump hugged Kurt Suzuki after the catcher put on a “Make America Great Again” hat. Trump received a No. 45 Nationals jersey from first baseman Ryan Zimmerman. Among those not listed as attending were MVP finalist Anthony Rendon, reliever Sean Doolittle, outfielders Victor Robles and Michael A. Taylor, and pitchers Joe Ross, Javy Guerra and Wander Suero. Eighteen players attended.
