Sky add Lange as assistant

-

The Sky announced Tuesday they have added Olaf Lange to coach James Wade’s staff as an assistant coach. He will replace former assistant Carla Morrow, who joined Ohio State’s women’s staff in September.

Lange brings 25 years of professional coaching experience to the Sky, who are coming off their best season since 2015. He currently serves as an assistant for the Australian women’s national team.

Before that, Lange worked alongside Wade for one season as the coach of UMMC Ekaterinburg of the EuroLeague. During his six-year tenure with the Russian power, Lange led it to two EuroLeague titles.

♦ Domantas Sabonis led six players in double figures with 26 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, and the Pacers took advantage of the absence of Anthony Davis (sprained ankle) to slip past the visiting Lakers 105-102. Dwight Howard (10-for-10 shooting) and LeBron James scored 20 points for the Lakers.

♦ Wizards rookie forward Rui Hachimura will miss at least five games with a groin injury suffered Monday against the Pistons.

♦ North Carolina freshman point guard Cole Anthony, who is averaging 19.1 points, is expected to miss four to six weeks after having arthroscopic surgery to repair a partially torn meniscus in his right knee.

♦ UConn women’s coach Geno Auriemma is scheduled to undergo surgery Wednesday to relieve symptoms of diverticulitis. The school gave no timetable for his return.
