Bears sign ex-Packers safety Brice

The Bears signed former Packers starting safety Kentrell Brice to a reserve/futures deal Wednesday.

Brice started 10 games for the Packers in 2018 in his third year in the NFL. In 14 starts over 36 games, he has one sack and an intercepti­on. After being released by the Packers in 2018, he signed a one-year deal with the Buccaneers, but was waived on cut day.

♦ Vikings receiver Adam Thielen suffered an ankle injury in practice, and fellow receiver Stefon Diggs was out for the second consecutiv­e day because of an illness.

MLB Brewers extend Counsell through ’23

Brewers manager Craig Counsell was given a three-year contract extension through the 2023 season after guiding the team to consecutiv­e postseason appearance­s for the first time in team history.

♦ Former Cubs relief pitcher Hector Rondon agreed to a one-year, $3 million contract with the Diamondbac­ks, according to multiple reports.

MISCELLANE­OUS Harden, Young get 40-point triple-doubles

The Rockets’ James Harden (41 points, 10 assists, 10 rebounds) and the Hawks’ Trae Young (42 points, 13 rebounds, 10 assists) became the first players in NBA history to post 40-point triple-doubles in the same game. The visiting Rockets won the game 122-115.

♦ Cavaliers coach John Beilein apologized to his players after saying in a pregame film session they were no longer playing “like a bunch of thugs.” The first-year coach said he meant to say “slugs.’’

♦ Pacers guard Victor Oladipo, who has not played since suffering a right quadriceps tendon injury Jan. 23, said he plans to return to game action Jan. 29 against the Bulls.

♦ Georgia quarterbac­k Jake Fromm, who led the Bulldogs to a victory over Baylor in the Sugar Bowl, will forgo his senior season and enter the NFL Draft.

♦ The Flames signed defenseman Rasmus Andersson to a six-year, $27.3 million extension.
