Clippers get Morris in 3-way deal

-

The Clippers, Knicks and Wizards completed a three-team trade on deadline day that sent Marcus Morris and Isaiah Thomas to the Clippers. Jerome Robinson will join the Wizards, while the Knicks will receive Moe Harkless and a 2020 firstround draft pick.

The Clippers plan to waive Thomas, ESPN reported.

The Knicks also will receive the right to swap first-round picks in 2021 with the Clippers (protected through the No. 4 pick), a 2021 second-round pick via Detroit and the Washington draft rights to 2018 second-round pick Issuf Sanon.

Morris, 30, will join a title hopeful in Los Angeles after improving his scoring average to a career-high 19.6 points per game this season while shooting a career-best 43.9 percent from three-point range.

He will be an unrestricted free agent this offseason after signing a one-year, $15 million contract with the Knicks.

Russell joins friend Towns in Minnesota

The Timberwolves have taken on yet another new look, with D’Angelo Russell on his way to join pal Karl-Anthony Towns and Andrew Wiggins heading west to the Warriors in a swap of high scorers.

The deal also sent two little-used Golden State players, guard Jacob Evans and forward Omari Spellman, to the Timberwolves and routed two draft picks to the Warriors. They’ll get Minnesota’s firstrounder and second-rounder in 2021, unless the first-rounder is in the top three. Then it would roll over to 2022.

Russell, who was taken second in the 2015 draft, right behind Towns, is averaging a career-high 23.6 points in his first season in Golden State after he was acquired from Brooklyn in the Kevin Durant deal in July.

Wiggins, who is averaging 22.4 points and 5.2 rebounds per game, has spent his entire six-year career in Minnesota. He was the first overall pick of the Cavaliers in 2014 but was part of a blockbuster trade that sent Kevin Love to Cleveland.

Cavs getting Drummond from Pistons

The Cavaliers reportedly are acquiring center Andre Drummond in a trade with the Pistons. Drummond, who is a two-time All-Star, has an opt-out for next season. Cleveland will send forward John Henson, guard Brandon Knight and one of its two second-round picks in 2023 to the Pistons.

Drummond, 26, is averaging a careerbest 17.8 points to go with 15.8 rebounds per game. He led the league in rebounding in three of the four previous seasons.

Other moves

The 76ers acquired Glenn Robinson and Alec Burks from the Warriors for a 2020 second-round pick via Dallas, a 2021 secondround pick via Denver and a 2022 secondround pick via Toronto.

♦ The Hawks requested waivers on center Nenê Hilario, one day after he was acquired from the Rockets.

♦ The Nuggets acquired guard Jordan McRae from the Wizards for Shabazz Napier.
