Messi reaches 700-goal milestone

Barcelona forward Lionel Messi scored his 700th career goal, scoring from the penalty spot in his team’s 2-2 draw against Atletico Madrid in Barcelona, Spain.

Messi reached the milestone in 862 games, which is 111 fewer games than rival Cristiano Ronaldo needed at the end of 2019. However, the 35-year-old Ronaldo still is the leading active goal scorer with 728 goals.
