31 MLB play­ers record pos­i­tive tests

Thirty-one Ma­jor League Base­ball play­ers and seven staff mem­bers tested pos­i­tive for COVID-19 dur­ing in­take for the re­sump­tion of train­ing, a rate of 1.2 per­cent. MLB and the MLB Play­ers As­so­ci­a­tion an­nounced the re­sults as teams re­sumed work­outs for the first time since the coron­avirus in­ter­rupted spring train­ing March 12.

Se­ries cham­pion Jim­mie John­son, 44, has tested pos­i­tive for the coron­avirus, be­com­ing the first driver in any NASCAR se­ries to do so, and will miss the race Satur­day at In­di­anapo­lis Mo­tor Speed­way.
