- Manny Ramos

Illinois health officials announced 954 new COVID-19 cases on Sunday after recording three consecutive days of over 1,000 cases.

The Illinois Department of Public Health also reported 20 more deaths caused by COVID-19. The deaths ranged in age from 60 to 90 years old and happened in Cook, Cass, DuPage, Morgan, Will and Winnebago counties.

The slight dip in new cases is still more than what the state was recording just weeks ago. Since the coronavirus outbreak, the state has documented 153,916 cases, spanning all 102 of the state’s counties, and 7,187 deaths.

The most recent confirmed cases were determined out of the 38,894 tests conducted over the last 24 hours. The sevenday positivity has inched up to 3%.
