Fans at NFL games must wear masks
The NFL announced Wednesday that if stadiums are able to host fans this season, face masks will be mandatory.
Unlike the other three sports, football doesn’t have a league-wide policy on allowing fans. It appears the NFL will allow teams to decide for themselves instead. Nearly one-third of the league plays in states currently suffering a spike in coronavirus cases.
With the NFL moving toward canceling the preseason, the first game will be the Sept. 10 season opener featuring the Texans at Chiefs. The Bears open Sept. 13 at the Lions.
Jets owner Woody Johnson is reportedly under investigation after being accused of making several racist and sexist comments during his time as an ambassador to the United Kingdom.
Northern Illinois’ season opener Sept. 5 against Rhode Island was canceled. Rhode Island, which is part of the Colonial Athletic Association, canceled its season last week because of COVID-19.

Michigan State is pausing workouts after a staff member tested positive for COVID-19.
