49ers, Mostert re­work deal

Run­ning back Ra­heem Mostert, who emerged as a star dur­ing the 49ers’ run to the Su­per Bowl last sea­son, re­worked his con­tract af­ter re­quest­ing a trade this month.

Agent Brett Tessler said Mon­day the new deal en­sures Mostert, who scored 12 touch­downs in his last 10 games (reg­u­lar sea­son and play­off) last sea­son, will re­port to train­ing camp this week.

ESPN re­ported the 49ers added $2.75 mil­lion in in­cen­tives and bonuses to Mostert’s $2.575 mil­lion base salary this sea­son.

†Wash­ing­ton put quar­ter­back Alex Smith, 36, on the phys­i­cally un­able-to-per­form list on the eve of train­ing camp.

A phys­i­cal showed Smith’s right leg has re­cov­ered 20 months af­ter he suf­fered a bro­ken fibula and tibia dur­ing a game in Novem­ber 2018, but he hasn’t been fully cleared for prac­tices, con­tact or full foot­ball ac­tiv­ity.

†The NFL put Gi­ants cor­ner­back DeAn­dre Baker and Sea­hawks cor­ner­back Quin­ton Dun­bar on the ex­empt list. Both face crim­i­nal charges in con­nec­tion with an armed rob­bery this spring in Mi­ra­mar, Flor­ida.
