Blue Jays-Phillies series postponed
The Phillies canceled all activities at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia and Saturday’s doubleheader and Sunday’s game against the Blue Jays after a member of the coaching staff and a member of the home clubhouse staff tested positive for the coronavirus.
The Phillies, who have not played since Sunday, said no players have tested positive. They are not scheduled to play until a four-game series against the Yankees, in New York on Monday and Tuesday and at home Wednesday and Thursday.
The Marlins had another player test positive for the coronavirus, bringing the team’s total to 19. Their season has been suspended through at least Sunday.
MLB and the players’ union reportedly agreed to stage seven-inning doubleheaders starting Saturday. The league also announced a new set of rules that will punish players and team personnel who steal signs electronically.
The Angels put Mike Trout on the paternity list. He and his wife, Jessica, are expecting their first child, which was due Monday.
The Rangers will be without closer Jose
Leclerc for most of the pandemic-shortened season with a shoulder injury.
