Blue Jays-Phillies se­ries post­poned

The Phillies can­celed all ac­tiv­i­ties at Cit­i­zens Bank Park in Philadel­phia and Satur­day’s dou­ble­header and Sun­day’s game against the Blue Jays af­ter a mem­ber of the coach­ing staff and a mem­ber of the home club­house staff tested pos­i­tive for the coro­n­avirus.

The Phillies, who have not played since Sun­day, said no play­ers have tested pos­i­tive. They are not sched­uled to play un­til a four-game se­ries against the Yan­kees, in New York on Mon­day and Tues­day and at home Wed­nes­day and Thurs­day.

The Mar­lins had an­other player test pos­i­tive for the coro­n­avirus, bring­ing the team’s to­tal to 19. Their sea­son has been sus­pended through at least Sun­day.

MLB and the play­ers’ union re­port­edly agreed to stage seven-in­ning dou­ble­head­ers start­ing Satur­day. The league also an­nounced a new set of rules that will pun­ish play­ers and team per­son­nel who steal signs elec­tron­i­cally.

The An­gels put Mike Trout on the pa­ter­nity list. He and his wife, Jes­sica, are ex­pect­ing their first child, which was due Mon­day.

The Rangers will be with­out closer Jose

Le­clerc for most of the pan­demic-short­ened sea­son with a shoul­der in­jury.
