Sky falls to Mercury

Courtney Vandersloo­t had 21 points and eight assists, but the Sky fell to the Phoenix Mercury 96-86 in WNBA bubble action Thursday night in Bradenton, Florida.

Kahleah Copper added 18 points and Allie Quigley 13 for the Sky, who fell to 4-2.

Brittney Griner and Diana Taurasi each scored 22 for the Mercury (4-2).

The Mercury sprinted to a 32-18 lead after the first quarter and led 55-49 at halftime.

The Sky shot 32-for-70 from the field, including 9-for-24 from theepoint range. The Mercury shot 32for-61 from the field, including 10for-19 from three-point range.

Skylar Diggins-Smith and Shatori Walker-Kimbrough each added 17 points for the Mercury. Griner added eight rebounds.
