Sky falls to Mer­cury

Court­ney Van­der­sloot had 21 points and eight as­sists, but the Sky fell to the Phoenix Mer­cury 96-86 in WNBA bub­ble ac­tion Thurs­day night in Bradenton, Florida.

Kahleah Cop­per added 18 points and Al­lie Quigley 13 for the Sky, who fell to 4-2.

Brit­tney Griner and Diana Taurasi each scored 22 for the Mer­cury (4-2).

The Mer­cury sprinted to a 32-18 lead after the first quar­ter and led 55-49 at half­time.

The Sky shot 32-for-70 from the field, in­clud­ing 9-for-24 from thee­p­oint range. The Mer­cury shot 32for-61 from the field, in­clud­ing 10for-19 from three-point range.

Sky­lar Dig­gins-Smith and Sha­tori Walker-Kim­brough each added 17 points for the Mer­cury. Griner added eight re­bounds.
