Truck driver fatally struck after exiting cab in middle of Jane Addams Tollway
A 63-year-old truck driver from Hoffman Estates was fatally struck by a semitrailer Thursday after exiting his stopped truck on the Jane Addams Memorial Tollway near Arlington Heights.
Petu Petrov parked his truck in the right lane of the westbound tollway east of IL-53 and left the cab into the center lane, Illinois State Police said in a statement. It’s unclear why he stopped in the road.
While Petrov was in the roadway at 10:07 a.m., a semi traveling in the right lane swerved to avoid the stopped truck and crashed into Petrov, state police said. David Struett

A 48-year-old man was shot to death Friday in West Pullman on the Far South Side.

in Woodlawn on the South Side. He was standing with a group of males about 8:10 p.m. in the 6400 block of South Ellis Avenue when he was shot in the leg. The boy was in fair condition, Chicago police said. Sun-Times Wire
Man critically injured in Gresham shooting
A 46-year-old man was critically wounded when he was shot Friday in Gresham on the South Side. Officers responded to a ShotSpotter alert about 9 p.m. and found him unresponsive in the 7600 block of South Peoria street with a gunshot wound to the armpit, Chicago police said. Sun-Times Wire
Police seek River North sex assault suspect
Police are looking for someone suspected of sexually assaulting a person at knifepoint Friday in River North. The man, believed to be in his early-to-mid 20s, is described as 5-foot-7 to 6-feet tall with a thin build, police said. He was wearing a face mask, blue latex gloves and all black clothing.
