PERSONAL REASONS IDLE QB FITZPATRICK
Dolphins quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick missed practice for personal reasons, and coach Brian Flores declined to say how long he expected him to be gone.
Fitzpatrick’s absence left top draft pick Tua Tagovailoa and former Cardinals firstround pick Josh Rosen to take snaps. Tagovailoa is considered a potential franchise quarterback, but he is returning from a serious hip injury in November that ended his college career at Alabama.
• Bills cornerback Josh Norman is out indefinitely after hurting his left hamstring in practice. Coach Sean McDermott didn’t provide a timetable about how much time Norman will miss.
• The NFL suspended Jaguars defensive lineman Josh Mauro without pay for the first five games of the regular season for violating its policy on performance-enhancing substances.
• The NFL announced the hiring of Jonathan Beane as senior vice president and chief diversity and inclusion officer.
