NCAA GIVES FALL ATHLETES EXTRA YEAR

The NCAA Division I board of directors voted to give all student-athletes in fall sports an additional year of eligibility and an additional year to complete it because of the uncertainty caused by the coronavirus.

• Iowa said it will drop four sports — men’s gymnastics, men’s tennis and men’s and women’s swimming — after the 2020-21 academic year to close a projected loss of $100 million because of the coronavirus.
