John­son rolls to 11-shot win

Dustin John­son capped an as­ton­ish­ingly dom­i­nant per­for­mance with an 8-un­der­par 63 in the fi­nal round Sun­day on his way to win­ning The North­ern Trust — the first event of the PGA Tour’s FedEx Cup play­offs — by 11 strokes over Har­ris English in Nor­ton, Mas­sachusetts.

The re­sult en­abled John­son, who com­pleted 72 holes at 30-un­der 254, to re­gain the No. 1 rank­ing in the world. His 30-un­der score rel­a­tive to par was one shot off the record of 31 un­der set by Ernie Els in 2003 and Justin Thomas in 2017.

Tiger Woods closed with a 5-un­der 66 and fin­ished in a tie for 58th at 6 un­der.

• Sophia Popov, who en­tered the event ranked 304th in the world, closed with a 3-un­der 68 to earn a two-stroke vic­tory over Jas­mine Suwan­na­pura in the Women’s Bri­tish Open in Troon, Scot­land. Popov fin­ished 72 holes at 7-un­der 277.
