Dustin Johnson capped an astonishingly dominant performance with an 8-underpar 63 in the final round Sunday on his way to winning The Northern Trust — the first event of the PGA Tour’s FedEx Cup playoffs — by 11 strokes over Harris English in Norton, Massachusetts.

The result enabled Johnson, who completed 72 holes at 30-under 254, to regain the No. 1 ranking in the world. His 30-under score relative to par was one shot off the record of 31 under set by Ernie Els in 2003 and Justin Thomas in 2017.

Tiger Woods closed with a 5-under 66 and finished in a tie for 58th at 6 under.

• Sophia Popov, who entered the event ranked 304th in the world, closed with a 3-under 68 to earn a two-stroke victory over Jasmine Suwannapura in the Women’s British Open in Troon, Scotland. Popov finished 72 holes at 7-under 277.
