FISH OF THE WEEK

-

It’s the back-to-school-special FOTW. Yalisa Riley nominated her son Jeremy (top photo).

“Like many people, we have been venturing out and trying new things to stay sane during these crazy times,” she emailed. “My son and husband [Brian] have been fishing, and Jeremy caught this decent sized [largemouth] bass at a lake near our home in Plainfield. He reeled it in all on his own and was over the moon about it . ... This was for sure the biggest fish he’s caught — he’s maybe caught two more. They threw it right back and kept at it.” Keeping to firsts.

Mike Wojtiuk, counterman at Park Bait, nominated his grandson Bryce Wojtiuk (middle), 13, who landed his first largemouth on “buzz bait in a secret pond in Sheboygan, Wis.”

Justin Lederer nominated his son Anthony Lederer (bottom) for catching his best largemouth while fishing cutbait for catfish in a subdivision pond in Lake in the Hills.

“Shows you never know what is under the water,” Lederer emailed.
