Cards drub Cowboys
Kyler Murray threw two touchdown passes, including an 80-yarder, to Christian Kirk in a 21-point second quarter that carried the visiting Cardinals to a 38-10 rout of the Cowboys on ‘‘Monday Night Football.’’
Murray, who also ran for 74 yards and a touchdown, completed only nine passes but threw for 188 yards. Combined with Kenyan Drake’s 164 yards rushing and two touchdowns, including a 69-yarder, the Cardinals (4-2) had plenty to beat the error-prone Cowboys (2- 4).
Andy Dalton, who was making his first start for the Cowboys in place of injured Dak Prescott (season- ending fractured right ankle), threw for 266 yards and a garbagetime touchdown on 54 passes, but he also was intercepted twice.
And Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott was held to 49 yards on 12 carries and lost two fumbles, which led to the Cardinals’ first two touchdowns.
COVID-19 news
Multiple outlets reported an investigation by the NFL and NFL Players Association into the Titans’ coronavirus outbreak found instances in which personnel failed to wear masks at all times and were ‘‘insufficiently clear’’ to players about not meeting or working out once the facility closed.
Sources said those issues will be taken into consideration for potential discipline, but they said that there was no discussion of any discipline for an individual and that there was no discussion of forfeiting games or draft picks.
The outbreak grew to as many as 24 and forced the NFL to reschedule two of the Titans’ games.
◆ The Raiders put rookie cornerback Damon Arnette on the reserve/COVID-19 list. The list is used for players who test positive for the coronavirus or have been in close contact with an infected person.
Injury report
Eagles tight end Zach Ertz reportedly will miss three to four weeks with a high ankle sprain suffered during the second half Sunday against the Ravens.
The Eagles also are expected to be without running back Miles Sanders on Thursday against the Giants because of a knee injury suffered against the Ravens.
◆ Titans left tackle Taylor Lewan confirmed on social media that he suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee during the third quarter Sunday against the Texans and will miss the rest of the season. Lewan is a three-time Pro Bowl selection.
