Mayfield activated from COVID- 19 list

Baker Mayfield’s unexpected­ly extended bye week is finally over.

The Browns quarterbac­k returned Wednesday feeling refreshed and somewhat relieved following a midseason break that ended with him on the COVID list.

Mayfield was activated and practiced as the Browns continued preparing to host the Texans on Sunday. Mayfield had to isolate for several days after he had close contact with a staff member who tested positive.

Any other time this season, Mayfield would have missed a game.

Chiefs seek inquiry

The Chiefs want the NFL to launch an inquiry with the players’ associatio­n after a union representa­tive conducted a meeting with the team late in October without wearing a mask, according to a report by ESPN.

The NFLPA representa­tive allegedly was in close proximity while meeting with the team.

The union representa­tive is not subject to the same COVID- 19 testing as players and regularly travels among the teams, the source said.

NFL won’t punish 49ers

The 49ers were cleared of any potential violations of the NFL’s COVID protocols following a positive test from receiver Kendrick Bourne.

The investigat­ion started last week after Bourne tested positive and was put on the COVID list. Teammates Brandon Aiyuk, Trent Williams and Deebo Samuel also were forced to miss the game against the Packers because they were determined to be “highrisk” close contacts.

Crawford goes on COVID list

The Cowboys put defensive end Tyrone Crawford on the COVID list. Crawford joined quarterbac­k Andy Dalton on the team’s list.

by Harris tested positive for the coronaviru­s and will miss his second consecutiv­e game Sunday. Harris missed the game at Atlanta after going on the COVID list Friday following his exposure to somebody with the virus.

Bengals pick up DE McKinley

The Bengals bolstered their defensive front by claiming defensive end Takk McKinley off waivers from the Falcons.

McKinley had 17 ½ sacks in 49 games with the Falcons, who waived him Monday after he took to social media in recent weeks to make it clear that he wanted out of Atlanta.
