MIDWEST FISHING REPORT

-

LAKEFRONT PERCH: Perch are being caught around the South Side slips and the Calumet system from shore and boat; nice perch and good numbers. Boater Larry Jennings caught them to 11 inches. Arden Katz: Security over the weekend kept anglers out of the private property areas, so public area at Steelworkers Park was packed with anglers and perch. Another lakefront regular said security was not chasing anglers from the private property on Monday and perch were being caught on every cast. Slez’s: Some catches well up the Calumet; extra-large fatheads on crappie rigs or perch flies are best. Park Bait: A few perch being caught at Montrose.

CHAIN: Triangle: Use extreme caution launching and navigating with low water; crappie and white bass being caught down 8-12 ft. over main lake basins; try for walleye on main lake points relating to deep water with roaches or large fatheads; muskie are fair on suckers or large jerkbaits in deeper water near points; catfish are fair on crawlers or medium roaches. GREEN/STURGEON BAYS, WISCONSIN: Howie’s: Perch “fantastic” when able to get out, in 5-13 ft. with fatheads; pike great feeding on shallow perch. LAKEFRONT: Perch at top. Park Bait: Catching some trout and the occasional coho and king in the harbors on medium roaches, crawlers, spawn sacs, shrimp, smaller crankbaits or tinsel jigs with waxies.
