Bulls sign Garrett Temple,

-

The Bulls signed 34-year-old veteran shooting guard Garrett Temple to a oneyear, $5 million deal Friday night on the first day of NBA free agency.

Temple started 35 of 62 games for the Nets last season, averaging a career-best 10.4 points per game with 2.5 assists and 3.5 rebounds. With 11 seasons under his belt, he’ll give new Bulls coach Billy Donovan some valuable experience behind Zach LaVine. Temple is also a 34.7% three-point shooter and has played in 30 playoff games.

The Bulls became thin at guard this week when they allowedKrisDunnand Shaquille Harrison to test the free-agent market.

† Guard De’Aaron Fox’s agent told ESPN that Fox agreed to a five-year maximum extension with the Kings that’s worth at least $163 million, with escalators taking it potentially up to $196 million if he makes an All-NBA team and the league’s salary cap increases above $112 million

† The NBA champion Lakers will sign big man Montrezl Harrell, the Sixth Man of the Year with the Clippers last season, to a two-year, $19 million deal, according to ESPN. They’re also adding veteran Wesley Matthews, formerly of the Bucks, for one year, $3.6 million.

† The Heat got quick agreements from point guard Goran Dragic and center

Meyers Leonard on two-year deals, the second year being team options in both cases. Dragic will make about $18 million next season, Leonard about $9 million.

† The Pistons received commitments from centers Mason Plumlee and Jahlil Okafor, people familiar with those deals told the Associated Press. ESPN, which first reported the Plumlee agreement, said he would sign a three-year, $25 million deal.

† Guard Joe Harris agreed to a fouryear, $75 million deal to return to the Nets, his agent told ESPN. The deal comes on the heels of the Nets adding Landry Shamet and Bruce Brown in trades.

† The agent for eight-time All-Star

Dwight Howard told ESPN that Howard is signing a one-year deal with the 76ers for the veteran’s minimum exception of $2.6 million.

† Forward Danilo Gallinari, previously with the Thunder, is finalizing a three-year, $61.5 million contract with the Hawks, his agent told ESPN.

† Sources told ESPN that small forward

Rodney Hood agreed to a two-year, $21 million deal to return to the Trail Blazers, with the second year of the deal non-guaranteed.

SOX ADD BURGER TO 40-MAN ROSTER

The White Sox purchased the contracts of third baseman Jake Burger, first baseman Gavin Sheets and right-hander Tyler Johnson on Friday, promoting the trio of 2017 draft picks to the 40-man roster.

The Sox also claimed right-hander Emilio Vargas off waivers from the Diamondbacks. Vargas, 24, posted a 3.84 ERA and 82 strikeouts in 96 innings covering 20 starts for Class AA Jackson and the Diamondbacks’ Arizona Rookie League team in 2019.

Burger, the 11th pick in 2017, was sidetracked by two Achilles injuries and hasn’t played above low Class A Kannapolis. After missing the last two seasons, he played well enough in a college league and at the Sox’ training facility in Schaumburg this year to earn the spot.

† The Cubs selected the contracts of right-handers Cory Abbott and Keegan Thompson from high Class A Myrtle Beach and infielder Christopher Morel from Class A South Bend.
