Lois Janet DeBellis née Rischow passed away on March 10, 2021, surrounded by loved ones. Lois was born on September 28, 1953 in Chicago, Illinois to Albert Rischow and Florence Rischow née Czarnik. Lois had a love of learning and graduated with a BSN from UIC in 1975. While working at Lakeshore Hospital in 1978, she met a psychology graduate student who would become her husband, Edward DeBellis. Lois had an avid love of the outdoors and would travel the country with her hiking group visiting various National Parks. Her hiking friends lovingly referred to her as “Wannawalk.” Lois knew that the best things in life were free (park admission fees aside). Lois spent over 40 years as a nurse. Throughout her career, Lois specialize­d caring for those with mental illness, those homebound, and those with special needs at school. Lois is preceded in death by her parents Albert and Florence, many aunts and uncles and her father- and mother-inlaw. Lois is survived by her husband, Dr. Edward DeBellis PsyD, her daughter Lisa (Eric Schuller), her son Eric (Anny Gonzalez), and her cherished grandchild­ren, Asher and Ainsley Schuller. Visitation from 3:00 pm until 8:00 pm, Friday, and from 10:00 am until time of Funeral Service Saturday at Glueckert Funeral Home Ltd., 1520 North Arlington Heights Road, Arlington Heights, Illinois. Face masks are required, social distancing and capacity limits (50) are in effect. Guests should prepare to wait outside for entry.
