Duckworth drops F-bomb on Fox host
Senator takes aim at Carlson for mocking women in U.S. military
WASHINGTON — After Fox News host Tucker Carlson disparaged women serving in the military, Sen. Tammy Duckworth, D-Ill., a wounded Iraq war vet, said in a tweet, “F*ck Tucker Carlson.”
Other top military officials also slammed Carlson, who in a Tuesday segment featured a profile picture of a pregnant woman in a flight suit as he mocked military women.
“So we’ve got new hairstyles and maternity flight suits. Pregnant women are going to fight our wars. It’s a mockery of the U.S. military,” said Carlson, who has never served.
“While China’s military becomes more masculine as it has assembled the world’s largest navy, our military needs to become as Joe Biden says more feminine, whatever feminine means anymore, since men and women no longer exist. … This is a mockery of the U.S. military and its core mission, which is winning wars.”
To that, Duckworth said in a tweet, “F*ck Tucker Carlson.” It was over video of Carlson showing off his bare chest in a flamboyant shirt he wore for his gig several years ago on “Dancing with the Stars.”
Wrote Duckworth, “While he was practicing his two-step, America’s female warriors were hunting down Al Qaeda and proving the strength of America’s women. Happy belated International Women’s Day to everyone but Tucker, who even I can dance better than.
“...and we all know it was his female partner who did all the hard work,” wrote Duckworth.
Duckworth, up for reelection in 2022, also made a fundraising appeal with her F—- Carlson in the subject line, going on to note how he “ridiculed pregnant servicemembers and claimed our military is becoming too “feminine.”’
Last July, when Duckworth was in the running to be President Joe Biden’s presidential pick, Carlson taunted her on two back-to-back shows. He called Duckworth a “moron,” “silly,” “unimpressive,” a “coward” and a “callous hack.”
He wrapped up on a barely coded racial note, showing a picture of Duckworth, who is Asian American, and a Black member of Congress while talking about the need to “preserve our nation and our heritage and our culture.”
A retired lieutenant colonel who served 23 years in the Illinois Army National Guard, Duckworth lost her legs when her helicopter was shot down over Iraq in 2004. She slapped back at Carlson in a New York Times op-ed, where she declared, “These titanium legs don’t buckle.”
Rep. Mikie Sherrill, D-N.J., another veteran, said in a tweet, “I signed up to serve my country at 18. @TuckerCarlson did not. I served with women who risked their lives to protect our country. Tucker did not. While he denigrates those who serve, our military remains the best fighting force due, in large part, to our amazing servicewomen.”
