Bucs able to keep Barrett, Gronk

Linebacker Shaquil Barrett agreed to terms Monday on a four-year, $72 million contract to stay with the Super Bowl champion Buccaneers. Agent Drew Rosenhaus said the deal includes $36 million in guaranteed money.

Barrett has been one of the NFL’s top pass rushers in the last two seasons and earned $15.8 million in 2020, when he played under the franchise tag after leading the league with 19½ sacks in 2019.

The Bucs also brought back tight end Rob Gronkowski on a one-year, $10 million contract, Rosenhaus said.

♦ The Patriots agreed to terms with Ravens linebacker Matthew Judon on a four-year, $56 million contract, Titans tight end Jonnu Smith on a fouryear, $50 million deal and Eagles receiver Nelson Agholor on a two-year, $26 million pact. Judon’s contract includes $32 million guaranteed, ESPN said.

The Patriots also reportedly agreed to trade offensive tackle Marcus Cannon to the Texans for the swap of fourth-, fifth- and sixth-round picks in the NFL Draft next month.

♦ The Chiefs began rebuilding their offensive line by agreeing to terms with Patriots offensive tackle Joe Thuney on a five-year contract worth a reported $80 million. The Chiefs recently released offensive tackles Eric Fisher and Mitchell Schwartz.

♦ The Rams agreed to terms with former Bears edge rusher Leonard Floyd on a four-year contract ESPN reported was worth $64 million. Floyd had a career-high 10oe sacks in his first season with them.

♦ ESPN reported Washington agreed to terms with quarterbac­k Ryan Fitzpatric­k, 38, on a oneyear contract worth $10 million, and he will head to camp as its starter. Washington will be his ninth team.

♦ The Saints retained quarterbac­k Jameis Winston when the sides agreed to terms on a one-year deal worth a reported $12 million. The move came a day after Drew Brees announced his retirement.

♦ Defensive end Romeo Okwara reportedly agreed to terms on a three-year, $39 million contract to stay with the Lions. Okwara, who played at Notre Dame, had a career-high 10 sacks in 2020.
