KEY DATES FOR 2021 MLB SEASON

• April 1: Opening Day.

• April 15: Jackie Robinson Day. This commemorat­es the day Robinson became the first Black man to play in Major League Baseball in 1947.

• June 2: Lou Gehrig Day. The first leaguewide day to honor the Hall of Fame first baseman and to raise awareness and funds to fight amyotrophi­c lateral sclerosis (ALS), the disease that ended Gehrig’s life and informally bears his name. June 2 is the day he became the Yankees’ regular first baseman in 1925 and the day he died 17 days short of his 38th birthday in 1941.

• July 11-13: MLB Draft.

• July 13: 91st All-Star Game in Atlanta. The Midsummer Classic is back after the game was canceled last year because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Truist Park, which opened in 2017, hosts the event. The American League has won the last seven All-Star Games.

• July 25: Hall of Fame induction ceremony. No one was voted in for 2021, but the

Walker — will be honored because the ceremony was postponed last year by the pandemic. Also, the Ford C. Frick Award will be given to Al Michaels for 2021 and retired Sox broadcaste­r Ken “Hawk” Harrelson for 2020.

• Aug. 12: MLB at Field of Dreams (White Sox vs. Yankees in Dyersville, Iowa). The Yankees and White Sox are scheduled to play at the cornfield in eastern Iowa where the 1989 movie ‘‘Field of Dreams’’ was filmed. The tribute was supposed to take place last year, but it was canceled because of the pandemic.

• Aug. 22: MLB Little League Classic (Angels vs. Indians) in Williamspo­rt, Pennsylvan­ia.
