Ifedi leads Bears with $570K bonus

-

Guard/tackle Germain Ifedi, who played 99% of the Bears’ snaps last season, led the team in performance-based pay.

Each offseason, the league distributes bonuses for players who received an outsized amount of playing time compared to their salaries.

Ifedi will make an extra $570,571 on top of the $1.047 million salary he received last year. Receiver Darnell Mooney will receive an extra $419,704 after a solid rookie season.

Rounding out the Bears’ top five in performance-based play was safety Tashaun Gipson ($380,548), outside linebacker Barkevious Mingo ($367,659) and defensive lineman Bilal Nichols ($361,896). Gipson is a free agent this offseason, while Mingo signed with the Falcons.

Seahawks’ Dunlap: Wilson staying

During his brief separation from the Seahawks in a move to create salary-cap space, Carlos Dunlap wanted to make sure that Russell Wilson would still be their quarterback before he considered returning to the team on a new contract.

“I did ask him if, obviously, he was going to be with us,” Dunlap said Tuesday. “I want to pick up where we left off, and he told me that he’s with us and he’s here to stay.”

Lions bolster shaky secondary

The Lions added desperately needed help in their secondary by signing veteran cornerback Quinton Dunbar to a one-year deal.

Dunbar had armed-robbery charges dropped against him last year in a case that involved Giants defensive back DeAndre Baker.

Dunbar started six games for the Seahawks last season and had one interception and 30 tackles before having season-ending knee surgery.

Falcons open to trading pick

The Falcons are “open to moving” out of the No. 4 pick in this month’s NFL draft, a source told ESPN.
