Ex-Bears kicker Parkey strikes deal with Saints

-

Multiple outlets reported Tuesday that the Saints agreed to terms with former Bears kicker Cody Parkey on an unspecified contract.

The Saints reportedly struck the deal with Parkey on the day they released kicker Aldrick Rosas, who missed three field goals in the last two weeks in place of injured Wil Lutz.

Lutz, however, is considered week-to-week with an injured groin suffered late in training camp, so Parkey might be with the Saints for only a game or two.

Parkey is best known for the field goal he missed off the goalpost and the crossbar — the socalled ‘‘double doink’’ — in the Bears’ wild-card playoff loss to the Eagles in January 2019.

Jaguars owner Shad Khan reprimanded coach Urban Meyer for his ‘‘inexcusable’’ behavior at a bar in Ohio last weekend.

Khan condemned Meyer’s actions, which were captured on video and released on social media. One shows a young woman dancing close to Meyer’s lap as he sits on a bar stool. A second, more damning video appears to show Meyer touching the woman’s behind.

The Chiefs will add recently reinstated receiver Josh Gordon to their 53-man roster, and he is expected to play Sunday against the Bills. Gordon has been suspended five times for violations of the NFL’s substance-abuse policies.

In other Chiefs news, defensive end Frank Clark pleaded not guilty in Los Angeles to two counts of possession of an assault weapon stemming from incidents in March and June.

Steelers coach Mike Tomlin said Ben Roethlisberger is ‘‘absolutely’’ the best quarterback to run first-year offensive coordinator Matt Canada’s system, despite the team’s 1-3 record and calls for Tomlin to turn to backup Mason Rudolph.

Former Bulls big man Pau Gasol, 41, announced his retirement from basketball after an 18-season stint in the NBA and a decorated international career.

Gasol, who played for the Bulls for two seasons (2014-16), averaged 17 points, 9.2 rebounds and 3.2 assists in the NBA and won titles with the Lakers in 2009 and 2010. He also won a gold medal with Spain at the world championships in 2006.
