Garden party: Rose pops the question at MSG

Finally, we have a ring ceremony at Madison Square Garden.

But it was Derrick Rose and not the Knicks who provided the bling Tuesday.

At the same arena where he was drafted first overall by the Bulls in 2008 and has seen his career rejuvenated since he was traded to the Knicks in February, the former Bulls MVP proposed to his longtime girlfriend, Alaina Anderson.

He announced his engagement in an Instagram post with a photo of a romantic dinner setup — with red and white roses, champagne, red wine and a massive, squarecut diamond ring.

The future Mrs. Rose, who wore a multicolored Chanel sweater, wrote on Instagram on Wednesday that she thought they were going to a Knicks team party but “turns out it was my party!!!”

Along with the photo, he posted a tribute to Anderson and honored their shared Chicago roots.

“We are two peas in a pod becuz we are truly MISUNDERSTOOD” Rose wrote. “We got our heart and swag from this place called ENGLEWOOD.

“I will always love you becuz you go above and beyond. We built a beautiful family and a unbreakable bond. Thank you Queen.”

Anderson, a Chicago native and De La Salle graduate, is an entrepreneur, running the lifestyle and athletic-wear brand Keep It Cute Fitness. She is also a model and Instagram influencer (@alainataughtyou) with more than 300,000 followers.

The couple have two children together. A girl, Layla Malibu, was born in 2018 followed by a boy, London Marley, one year later. Rose has another son, Derrick “PJ” Rose Jr., from a previous relationship.

Anderson posted a video on Instagram on Tuesday that showed off the ring: “MRS. ROSE… MY FACE HURTS … Just got engaged in MSG nothing major!”

As of Wednesday evening, the post had been liked by 460,000 people.
