Calderon, Roy Mario

Roy Mario Calderon, 89 passed away on November 18, 2021 in his home town of Chicago, Illinois. Roy was born in Chicago, Illinois to Vincent and Juanita Calderon on April 16, 1932. He was a loving Husband, Father, Brother, Grandfather, Uncle and Friend. He served with the United States Army during the Korea Conflict in 1952 and was honorably discharged. Throughout his life, he had many diverse and special traits to include gymnastics, guitarist and photographer. He was an avid fisherman and handcrafted numerous poles, flies and lures. He was an accomplished Marble Setter/Bricklayer and active with the International Union of Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers for over 50 years. Some of his work is you can see in the historical buildings in the city of Chicago like the Cultural Center, Lake Pointe Towers, Water Tower and John Hancock. What was simply irreplaceable through was his sense of family, and its core beliefs and ideas which bound our family together. Togetherness was the essential element. Roy is survived by all those who loved and cared for him. His wife Heydi, his sons Mark (Aida), Stephen, His daughters Charmaine (Richard) Balcerzak, Jennifer (Mike) Maayteh, Elishia (Edgar) Rodriguez; Proud and loving Grandpa of Eric, Brandon, Ryan, Victoria, Emma, Michael, Morgan, Matthew, Alice and Vincent and great grandfather to Isaiah, Olden and His surviving siblings Esther, Frank, Alfred. A visitation for Roy will be held on Tuesday November 30, 2021 from 4:00pm to 8:00 pm at Mount Auburn Funeral Home, 4101 South Oak Park Ave. Stickney, IL 60402, A graveside service will occur Wednesday December 1, 2021 from 12:00pm to 1:00pm at Mount Auburn Cemetery, 4101 South Oak Park Ave. Stickney, Il 60402. A funeral service will occur Wednesday December 1, 2021 from 11am – 12:00pm at Blessed Sacrament Church 3745 S. Paulina St. Chicago, IL 60609.
