Porzio, Margaret “Maggie”, nee Tarrant

-

Margaret Mary Porzio, nee Tarrant, left us too soon and unexpectedly on Nov 22, 2021. Maggie was born on December 13, 1946, the “baby” of seven to Hannah and Jack Tarrant who immigrated to Chicago long ago, from County Kerry and County Cork of Ireland. Maggie is survived by her daughter Jill Porzio of Denver, CO, her sister Eileen Williamson (Jerry), and her brother Eugene Tarrant (Adeline). Maggie was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Noreen Caposey, and brothers Jack, Edward, and Bill Tarrant. Additionally, Maggie is reunited with her beloved nephews Jackie Tarrant, Thomas

Caposey, and Danny Tarrant.

Maggie was a loving daughter, sister, mother, aunt, Godmother, friend, teacher, an award-winning gardener in Homewood, IL, a fantastic cook, an avid reader, sales rep, hairdresser, caregiver, cat lover, symphony enthusiast, walker, bird watcher, die-hard Bear’s fan and hostess with the mostest! A proud graduate of St. Kevin’s Elementary school (1960) and Sts. Peter & Paul High School (1964) in Chicago.

She will be missed every day by nieces and nephews too many to list. Her loving, caring, and generous spirit will be remembered fondly by her friends, some of whom have known her for 65 years or more.

If you wish to send a donation, in lieu of flowers, please consider the place Maggie retired from and spent her final months enjoying life. Donations can be made to Smith Village’s charitable fund- Emilie’s Fund. Contact Coleen Barkmeier, cbarkmeier@ smithseniorliving.org, to learn how to make a donation in Maggie’s name.

A private celebration of life is being planned. For more information contact Jill at porzio3213@ comcast.net.

Rest in Peace Sweet One!
