GIANTS QB GLENNON CLEARED TO START

Giants quarterbac­k Daniel Jones will miss his second consecutiv­e game with a neck injury, and backup Mike Glennon, who was cut by the Bears after one season in 2018, will start despite sustaining a concussion in his start last weekend against the Dolphins.

The Giants ruled out Jones after doctors said he was not cleared for contact.

Roughly an hour after Glennon practiced fully Friday, the team said he was no longer in the concussion protocol and he was removed from the injury list.

Glennon was 23-for-44 for 187 yards and an intercepti­on in the loss to the Dolphins. He also was sacked three times.

Texans hand qb reins to mills

The Texans benched veteran quarterbac­k Tyrod Taylor in favor of rookie Davis Mills, and coach David Culley said Mills will start for the rest of the season.

Culley benched Taylor for Mills in the third quarter of last week’s loss to the Texans trailing 21-0 in what ended up a 31-0 loss to the Colts.

CHARGERS’ Allen out; WILLIAMS LIKELY A GO

Chargers receiver Keenan Allen, who tested positive for COVID-19 on Monday, will miss Sunday’s home game against the Giants.

Wide receiver Mike Williams and cornerback Chris Harris Jr., who were close contacts, are trending toward coming off the COVID list Saturday.

Kamara to return after 4-week absence

Saints running back Alvin Kamara will play at the Jets after missing the last four weeks with knee and hamstring injuries. Kamara practiced fully all week and had no injury designatio­n on the team’s official status report.

Lions down two running backs

The Lions will be without running backs D’Andre Swift (shoulder) and Jamaal Williams, who was put on the COVID list, against the Broncos.

Other injury news

The Buccaneers activated cornerback Richard Sherman (calf ) off injured reserve, clearing the way for his return against the Bills.

† Browns rookie cornerback Greg Newsome II was ruled out against the Ravens after suffering a concussion in practice.
