Nielsen-Reese, Samantha Nicole

-

Samantha Nicole Nielsen-Reese, a beloved daughter, granddaughter, sister, niece, cousin and friend left this world unexpectedly, at the young age of 21, on December 11, 2021. Samantha was born at St. Francis Hospital in Evanston, Illinois on March 6, 2000 to Michelle Nielsen and Lyndell Reese. Samantha grew up in Chicago, where she attended both George B. Armstrong & Carl Von Linne Elementary Schools and Schurz High School. Samantha was a lover of beauty, fashion and travel. She enjoyed dancing, listening to music, photography and spending time downtown near the water. She was fiercely independent, silly, funny, outgoing and vivacious, but she was also private, rebellious, introverted and introspective. She was devoted, loving and loyal to her friends. We will always remember her infectious laugh, her deep dark brown eyes and her caring personality. Those who knew Samantha, even a little, lost a ray of sunshine in their lives.

When you think of Samantha, celebrate the good memories you have of her. Remember that life is fragile and short and should be lived each day to the fullest.

Samantha is preceded in death by her grandparents Theodore and Diane Nielsen, Irma Rivera and stepfather Peter Moya. She leaves behind her parents Michelle Nielsen and Carlos Rivera Jr., brother Julian Moya; aunt and uncles Kathy and Paul Horne, Michael Nielsen; grandparents, Bernadette and David Van, Carlos Rivera Sr.; additional halfsiblings, cousins and many friends.

A memorial service will be held from 3pm to 9pm on Thursday, December 30, 2021 at Cooney Funeral Home, 3918 W. Irving Park Rd, Chicago, IL.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that a donation be made in Samantha’s name to www. domesticshelters.org or any other local domestic violence charity of your choice.
