Late stop lifts Steelers

Ben Roethlisberger ran for a one-year touchdown, his first in three years, and Chris Boswell kicked four field goals as the Steelers kept their playoff hopes alive with a 19-13 victory against the Titans on Sunday in Pittsburgh.

The Titans had four turnovers but were driving for the winning score in the waning moments. Steelers cornerback Joe Haden came up with a game-saving tackle, bringing down receiver Nick Westbrook-Ikhine at the Steelers’ 10-yard line, just inches short of a first down on a fourth-andseven play with 27 seconds left.

“He’s Joe Money,” Steelers linebacker T.J. Watt said. “He makes a lot of those really smart, veteran plays.” Watt had 1oe sacks, giving him 17oe on the season, breaking the Steelers’ single-season record of 16 set by James Harrison in 2008.

Roethlisberger (16-for-25) threw for 148 yards, giving him 63,552 in his career, moving him past Philip Rivers for fifth all-time, trailing Tom Brady, Drew Brees, Peyton Manning and Brett Favre.

Bengals 15, Broncos 10

Khalid Kareem snatched the ball from backup quarterback Drew Lock on second-and-goal early in the fourth quarter to help the visiting Bengals, who won despite star rookie receiver Ja’Marr Chase being held to a single catch for three yards and Tee Higgins managing only 23 yards on two catches.

Lock was in for Teddy Bridgewater, who was taken to the hospital in the third quarter for further evaluation of a head injury after he was carted off the field following a scary collision that also sent Bengals linebacker Joe Bachie (leg) from the game. Bridgewater had movement in his extremities and coach Vic Fangio said he’d be held overnight for observation but was expected to be OK.

Lock and the Broncos would get two more chances in the final quarter but never really had a prayer, gaining just 18 yards on 10 plays.

Cowboys 21, Giants 6

Defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence forced a fumble and made two other big plays that led to 15 points, and the visiting Cowboys inched closer to a playoff berth. Dak Prescott threw for a touchdown, Ezekiel Elliott scored on a 13-yard run and the defense forced four turnovers, including Trevon Diggs’ NFL-leading 10th interception.

Diggs is tied for the most interceptions in a season since the Cowboys’ Everson Walls had 11 in 1981. The last players with 10 were the Dolphins’ Xavien Howard last year and the Chargers’ Antonio Cromartie in 2007.

Giants wide receiver Sterling Shepard tore his left Achilles tendon and is done for the season.

49ers 31, Falcons 13

Jimmy Garoppolo threw for 235 yards and a touchdown for the host 49ers, who won for the fifth time in six games. The Falcons got stopped at the goal line on their first possession of the game and lost a fumble on a strip-sack by Nick Bosa on the opening drive of the second half. That helped the Niners take control as they took advantage of the good field position to drive 38 yards to take a 24-10 lead on Jeff Wilson Jr.’s five-yard run.
